Interesting software

Here are some links to software that I found on the Internet, which seem to me somehow useful:

A small tool to adjust the color and brightness of your display automatically according to the time of day, or night. While working in the early morning or late evening, your eyes may enjoy a little less bright screen.

A tool to change what is displayed in the Windows startbar clock section. Instead of just the time, this tool shows the date also, so that with one look, you know where you are in time. For example "Mon 8-12-2010 05:27" instead just "05:27". A feature I like in Unix.

When you have little children eager to play on your keyboard, install this tool that locks the keyboard until you type "quit".

Not a tool, but interesting nevertheless, the Interactive Fiction Competition. Quoted from the website: "For the last fifteen years, the readers of the Usenet newsgroup rec.arts.int-fiction have held a yearly interactive fiction competition. For fans of the old Infocom games as well as for newcomers to the genre, the competition is a chance to enjoy some of the best short adventure games available anywhere."
